Humane & Permanent Bat Exclusion

Bats play a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling insect populations—but when they move into your attic, chimney, or walls, they become a serious problem. At Nuisance Wildlife Control, we specialize in safe, humane, and permanent bat exclusion that protects your home without harming the animals.

Why Bat Exclusion Is Essential

Bats are federally protected in many areas, meaning they cannot be killed or trapped. More importantly, their presence inside your home can lead to:

  • Health risks from bat guano (droppings), which can harbor diseases like histoplasmosis.

  • Unpleasant odors and staining from urine and guano.

  • Noise and damage inside attic spaces and walls.

The only legal and effective way to deal with a bat infestation is through exclusion, not removal.

Our Bat Exclusion Process

1. Inspection & Assessment

Our trained technicians begin with a thorough inspection of your home. We identify:

  • Entry and exit points bats are using (often as small as ⅜ of an inch).

  • Areas contaminated by guano or urine.

  • Structural weaknesses or signs of damage.

2. Installing One-Way Bat Valves

Once we know where bats are entering and exiting, we install one-way exclusion devices (also called bat valves). These allow bats to safely fly out of the structure but prevent them from getting back in.

We use specialized bat cones or netting tubes designed specifically for the species in your area, ensuring:

  • No bats are trapped or harmed.

  • Entire colonies can exit over the course of a few days.

3. Sealing All Other Entry Points

While the exclusion devices are in place, we seal all other potential openings on the structure using:

  • Custom bent metal

  • Steel mesh

  • Foam sealants

  • High-grade caulk

This step ensures bats won’t find another way back in after they’ve exited.

4. Removing Devices & Final Seal-Up

After giving the bats adequate time to leave, we return to:

  • Confirm the building is bat-free

  • Remove the exclusion devices

  • Seal the final holes, completing the permanent exclusion

5. Guano Cleanup & Sanitizing (Optional)

If there’s significant guano buildup, we offer safe, professional cleanup and sanitizing services to restore your attic or walls and reduce health risks.
